To maintain a clean, safe and hygienic environment within the school premises, ensuring high standards of cleanliness across classrooms, corridors, toilets, offices and communal areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean classrooms, corridors, staircases and communal areas.
- Wipe desks, tables, chairs and hard surfaces.
- Vacuum carpets and mop hard flooring.
- Empty bins and dispose of waste safely.
- Clean toilets, washrooms and replenish consumables (soap, paper towels, toilet tissue).
- Clean internal glass, doors, handles and touchpoints.
- Maintain hygiene in staffrooms, kitchens and dining areas (light cleaning only, not catering duties).
Periodic / Weekly Tasks
- Dusting skirting boards, window sills, shelves and fixtures.
- Deep cleaning of toilet areas.
- Damp-wiping walls and surfaces as required.
- Spot-cleaning marks from walls and paintwork.
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Work in line with COSHH regulations for cleaning chemicals.
- Follow all safeguarding protocols within a school environment.
- Ensure equipment is used safely and stored securely (e.g., vacuums, mops, chemicals).
- Report hazards, damage or maintenance issues to Site Manager.
- Ensure all doors are locked and areas are secured after cleaning (if part of role).
Requirements
- Previous cleaning experience (ideally in commercial, office, or school).
- Ability to work independently and follow a cleaning schedule.
- Good awareness of health & safety and hygiene practices.
- Reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail.
- Enhanced DBS check.
The working hours are Monday - Friday 3:15pm - 6:15pm. The pay rates are £12.71 per hour. Temporary to Permanent.
