JDR is recruiting on behalf of a valued client for an experienced and highly skilled Vehicle Mechanic based in Newport, Wales. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanic who thrives on precision, enjoys solving complex mechanical issues, and takes pride in delivering outstanding customer satisfaction.
The Role
As a Vehicle Mechanic, you will play a key role in diagnosing and resolving advanced vehicle faults while ensuring all work meets manufacturer standards. You will be responsible for complex repairs, accurate documentation for warranty submissions, and supporting the wider workshop team.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve complex faults using OEM diagnostic platforms and tools
- Carry out major mechanical repairs, including engine and gearbox replacements
- Perform root cause analysis and ensure all repairs meet manufacturer standards
- Use specialist diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and smoke testers
- Conduct final road tests, re-calibrations, and system resets
- Accurately document all work for warranty claims and compliance
- Liaise with customers to explain technical issues clearly and build trust
- Support MOT testing and Pre-Delivery Inspections when required
- Mentor junior technicians and share knowledge and best practices
- Maintain high workshop standards, ensuring compliance with DVSA and Health & Safety regulations
About You
- IMI Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified
- Proven experience in advanced vehicle diagnostics and repairs within the automotive industry
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly
- High level of accuracy in administration and documentation
- MOT testing qualification (or willingness to support in this area)
- A proactive, reliable relationship builder with a strong work ethic
