Location: Barton-upon-Humber
Salary: £55,000 to 62,000 per annum
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm

The Role
We are currently recruiting for a Commercial Manager to join a growing Contracts Division within a market‑leading business supplying the housing and construction sectors. This is a fully office‑based role and a unique opportunity to establish and develop a commercial function from the ground up, with the potential to build and lead a team as the business grows.
As the Commercial Manager, you will act as the key link between Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Project Management teams, taking ownership of the commercial performance of kitchen supply and installation contracts from award through to final account settlement. You will be responsible for safeguarding profitability, managing contractual and commercial risks, and ensuring strong financial control across the division. You will monitor project margins, revenues, and costs, working closely with Finance and Project Managers to deliver accurate forecasting and reporting. A key focus of the role will be improving cash collection performance, reducing debtor days, and proactively managing payment disputes and commercial risks.
The role will involve reviewing contracts, managing variations and claims, supporting dispute resolution, and ensuring all contractual obligations are fulfilled. You will act as the central point of coordination between Operations, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Installation Teams, Project Management, and Finance to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and profitably. You will also support supply chain and procurement activities, oversee commercial compliance, and provide guidance and training to operational teams on contractual obligations, variation management, and commercial best practice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing strategic commercial leadership with day‑to‑day operational involvement.
Experience / Skills Required
- Previous experience within a Commercial Manager, Contracts Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Finance Business Partner, or similar commercial role
- Strong understanding of contract administration and commercial risk management
- Experience managing project profitability, cost control, cash flow, and debt collection
- Strong financial and analytical skills with the ability to interpret project performance and forecasting
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience using ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong organisational and problem‑solving abilities
- Ability to influence and work effectively across multiple departments
- Knowledge of JCT and other construction contract frameworks is advantageous
- Experience within kitchens, fit‑out, construction products, manufacturing, or housing development sectors is desirable
- Commercial, Finance, Quantity Surveying, Construction, or Business‑related qualifications are advantageous
- Highly organised with a proactive and solutions‑focused approach
- Able to balance strategic thinking with operational execution
- A minimum of 5 years of experience is required for this role
