We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced CNC Machinist to join a well-established and growing engineering business based in Blackwood. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist looking for long-term stability, competitive pay, and the chance to work in a modern manufacturing environment.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating CNC machinery to manufacture high-quality precision components to tight tolerances. This role is based on a permanent afternoon shift pattern:
- Monday - Wednesday: 2:00pm - 12:00am
- Thursday: 2:00pm - 10:00pm
Key Responsibilities
- Set, program, and operate CNC milling and/or turning machines.
- Produce precision-engineered components from technical drawings and specifications.
- Program CNC machines using engineering drawings and load programs via Fanuc and Heidenhain controls.
- Use OneCNC software (training provided if required).
- Select suitable tooling, speeds, and feeds for optimal machining performance.
- Set fixtures, clamps, and angle plates to securely hold components.
- Machine a range of materials including stainless steel, aluminium, hardened steels, mild steel, and engineering plastics.
- Inspect finished components to ensure quality standards and tolerances are met.
- Carry out basic machine maintenance and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
- Troubleshoot machining issues to minimise downtime and maintain productivity.
- Follow all health & safety procedures and company standards.
Requirements
- Previous experience operating CNC milling and/or turning machines.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- CNC programming experience is essential.
- Experience with Fanuc and/or Heidenhain controls preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight tolerances.
- Reliable and able to work permanent afternoon shifts.
- Right to work in the UK.
