We are recruiting an LGV Class 2 Refuse Collection Driver to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering vital waste collection services across the Barnsley borough. You will play an essential role in keeping the community clean, safe, and well-served. This is a primarily driving-based role, operating a 26-tonne refuse collection vehicle, but you may be required to support with loading when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely drive and operate a Class 2 (LGV) refuse collection vehicle.
- Work collaboratively within a waste collection team to complete daily routes.
- Supervise waste operatives and manage day-to-day operational tasks.
- Maintain paper or electronic records using handheld devices as required.
- Ensure all activities comply with Health & Safety standards and procedures.
- Provide excellent service to the community and respond to local priorities.
Working Hours
Tuesday to Friday, 37 hours per week (09:25 hours per day). Start time: 6am - Finish: 3:45pm.
What We're Looking For
- Valid LGV Class 2 licence (C).
- Experience driving large vehicles (26 tonnes preferred).
- Ability to lead and work well within a team.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Commitment to safe working practices and high-quality service delivery.
