We are currently recruiting for a Workshop Supervisor / Senior Vehicle Technician to work on behalf of the local authority in the Barnsley area. You'll be working within a busy vehicle repair workshop and play a key role in delivering essential council services to the community.

Responsible for all operational aspects of the Local Authority fleet maintenance function, in particular ensuring the delivery of the maintenance program within existing budgets, on time and to the standard required by the relevant legislation.

What you'll be doing:

  • To undertake and supervise servicing and repairs of vehicles, plant.
  • Work in an efficient and cost effective manner with the minimum of downtime.
  • To act as Authorised Examiner Delegated Manager, manage and prepare vehicles for MOT/HGV tests.
  • Responsible for management of a team of employees - recruitment, 1-2-1s, motivation and training.
  • Providing support and contributing accurate information for both monitoring and budget purposes.

What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience as a Workshop Supervisor / Vehicle Technician.
  • Level 3 Motor Vehicle qualification.
  • Cat C driving licence.
  • Experience of financial management and financial procedures.
  • People management experience.

Due to the nature of the role, successful candidates must be able to pass a basic DBS check.
