We are looking for an experienced Mechanic based in Newport, South Wales.
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: Β£17-Β£18.50ph basic
Shift: Monday to Friday 0830-1700 (hours may flex dependent on business needs and can involve some weekend work)
The role: Our client is a busy and reputable automotive workshop providing high-quality servicing, repairs, and diagnostics for a wide range of vehicles. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a skilled and reliable Car Mechanic to join their team. You will be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and completing routine maintenance to ensure vehicles are safe, reliable, and meet manufacturer standards.
About you:
- Perform servicing, repairs, and maintenance on cars and light vehicles
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools
- Carry out inspections and safety checks
- Replace parts such as brakes, clutches, suspension, engines, and exhaust systems, timing belt/chain changes
- Complete job cards and service documentation accurately
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Communicate clearly with customers and colleagues
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a mechanic/automotive technician
- Relevant qualifications (NVQ/City & Guilds/IMI or equivalent preferred)
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full driving licence
- MOT licence (desirable but not essential)
