We are seeking reliable and flexible Delivery Drivers located around the Wakefield area, to operate a range of vehicles including 7.5T tail lift trucks, 7T Luton vans, 5T panel vans, and 3.5T panel vans. The role involves multi-drop deliveries, safe vehicle operation, and providing excellent customer service while ensuring goods are delivered on time and in good condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of company vehicles (3.5T to 7.5T), including tail lift and Luton body vehicles
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects in line with company procedures
- Load and unload goods, using tail lifts and manual handling techniques where required
- Plan and follow efficient delivery routes to meet schedules and deadlines
- Complete multi-drop deliveries and collections across designated areas
- Ensure all deliveries are accurately documented (delivery notes, PODs, electronic systems, etc.)
- Provide professional and courteous service to customers at all times
- Secure loads correctly to prevent damage during transit
- Adhere to all road traffic laws, driver hours regulations, and company policies
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned vehicles
- Assist in warehouse duties when required
Requirements
- Valid UK driving licence (Category B required; Category C1 preferred for 7.5T vehicles)
- CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph card (for 7.5T driving)
- Previous experience driving Luton vans, tail lifts, or multi-drop deliveries preferred
- Good knowledge of UK road networks and safe driving practices
- Physically fit, as role involves regular lifting and manual handling
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and customer service skills
Desirable Skills
- Experience with route planning software or handheld delivery devices
- Experience in logistics, courier, or transport industries
Working Conditions
- 37 hours a week but overtime is expected at time and a half
- Start times will usually be between 6am and 7am
- Some heavy lifting and manual handling required
- Work may include local and regional deliveries, however there will not be any stop overs
