Location: Cwmbran

Hours: 36 hours per week.

  • Monday-Thursday: 07:30-16:00 (½ hour lunch, 15-minute paid break)
  • Friday: 07:30-11:30

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: From £15 an hour

Bonus: Performance-related bonus

We are currently seeking a Time-Served Manual / Semi-CNC Turner to join our client's engineering team in Cwmbran. This is a permanent opportunity offering long-term stability, excellent benefits, and the chance to work within an ISO9001-accredited environment.

The Role

The successful candidate will be involved in machining one-offs to small batches of components weighing up to 3 tonnes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Operating manual lathes and semi-CNC lathes
  • Using a manual centre lathe and tooling to machine components to drawing specifications
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Working to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
  • Complete tool setting, including understanding cutting speeds and feeds
  • Using measurement and inspection equipment (verniers, micrometres, bore gauges, etc.)
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment in line with ISO9001 standards

Experience in milling or welding is highly desirable.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is time served with proven experience on manual and/or semi-CNC lathes
  • Ideally has milling and/or welding experience
  • Has strong attention to detail and can work to tight tolerances
  • Is competent in tool setting, with knowledge of cutting speeds and feeds
  • Can confidently use measurement and inspection tools
  • Has around 3 years' engineering experience (preferred)
  • Is highly motivated, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a team
