The Role
JDR Recruitment Swansea is currently recruiting for a Site Operative / Labourer on behalf of a well-established Swansea-based manufacturing and installation company. This is a varied, hands-on position offering a mixture of factory-based work in Swansea and installation/site work across the UK. The company manufactures bespoke structures and equipment for industrial and commercial projects, which are produced within their Swansea facility before being delivered and installed at customer sites across the UK. Due to the nature of the work, we are particularly interested in candidates who have previous experience within carpentry, joinery, shop fitting, window/door fitting, construction or general skilled labouring.
Duties will include:
- General labouring and site operative duties
- Assisting with the manufacture and assembly of structures within the Swansea factory
- Using hand and power tools
- Basic carpentry, fitting and assembly work
- Fitting doors, panels, fixtures and other components
- Measuring, cutting and preparing materials
- Loading and preparing equipment/materials for site
- Travelling with the installation team to customer sites across the UK
- Assisting with the installation and fitting of completed structures on site
- Working closely with experienced members of the manufacturing and installation team
- Following site Health & Safety procedures at all times
Working Away
An important part of this position is the ability to work away from home when required. Depending on current projects, you could be working away approximately 2-3 days per week on occasions, travelling to customer sites throughout the UK. When working away:
- Accommodation/digs are paid for
- Food allowance is provided
- Travel will form part of the role
- Additional hours may be available depending on the project
Candidates therefore must be comfortable with regular UK travel and overnight stays.
What We're Looking For
We would particularly like to hear from candidates with experience in any of the following:
- Carpentry or joinery
- Shop fitting
- Window or door fitting
- Construction/site work
- General skilled labouring
- Manufacturing or assembly
- Using hand and power tools
- Installation work
You do not necessarily need to be a fully qualified carpenter. Someone who is practical, hands-on, reliable and confident using tools could be a very good fit for this position. You must also be flexible regarding working location, as some weeks may be predominantly factory-based in Swansea, while others may involve travelling to sites elsewhere in the UK.
Hours
Monday to Friday. Typical working hours will be either: 7:30am - 3:30pm or 8:00am - 4:00pm. Basic contracted hours are 39 hours per week, with overtime paid for additional hours worked.
Why Apply?
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work but doesn't want to be based in exactly the same environment every day. You'll get a mixture of factory, construction and installation work, with the opportunity to travel throughout the UK and develop additional skills within a specialist manufacturing and installation environment.
To apply, please submit your CV through JDR Recruitment Swansea. We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
