Location: Mobile / Site-based (UK-wide or regional, as required)

Job Purpose:

To carry out the inspection, maintenance, servicing, fault diagnosis, and repair of heavy and light plant equipment, both on-site and at client locations. The role will primarily involve working on CAT machinery, including 771 and 775 dump trucks, alongside the maintenance of telehandlers, MEWPs, and forklift trucks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned maintenance and reactive repairs on CAT plant and equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults efficiently
  • Service and maintain CAT 771 and 775 dumpers
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair telehandlers, MEWPs, and forklift trucks
  • Conduct pre-use and LOLER/PUWER-related inspections where required
  • Attend breakdowns on site and carry out repairs in a timely manner
  • Complete service reports, defect sheets, and job documentation accurately
  • Ensure all works are completed in line with manufacturer guidance and HSE regulations
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment at all times
  • Liaise professionally with clients, site teams, and supervisors
  • Ensure tools, plant, and service vehicles are maintained in good condition

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience as a Mobile Plant Fitter or similar role
  • Strong working knowledge of CAT machinery (essential)
  • Experience working on 771 and 775 dump trucks (preferred)
  • Competent in maintaining telehandlers, MEWPs, and forklift trucks
  • Good understanding of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems
  • Ability to fault-find and work independently
  • Familiar with LOLER, PUWER, and H&S requirements
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)

Qualifications (Desirable):

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant Maintenance or similar
  • Relevant manufacturer training (CAT, JCB, Genie, etc.)
  • IPAF / CPCS / NPORS (advantageous)
  • LOLER awareness or inspection training

This role is a temp to perm position after a 12 week period. Expenses and travel time also paid, which can boost salary.
