Mechanical Maintenance Engineers Required (Days & Shift Opportunities)

Location: Trafford Park, Greater Manchester

Salary:

  • Days: £42,770 - £50,641 per annum (DOE)
  • 4 on 4 off Shifts: £49,185 - £57,056 per annum (DOE, including 15% Shift Allowance)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:45am - 5:00pm OR 4 on 4 off rotating Days & Nights

JDR Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client for multiple Mechanical Maintenance Engineers to join a leading heavy industrial manufacturing business based in Trafford Park. Whether you're looking for a traditional Monday to Friday role or prefer a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, we have excellent permanent opportunities available.

Working as part of an experienced Engineering team, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the reliability and performance of a wide range of heavy industrial plant and machinery through planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and continuous improvement activities.

The Role

Your duties will include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across heavy industrial plant and machinery
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults
  • Maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Managing planned preventative maintenance schedules through the CMMS system
  • Issuing and controlling Permits to Work
  • Managing and supervising external contractors
  • Completing maintenance documentation
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensuring all maintenance activities are carried out safely and efficiently
  • Promoting a strong health and safety culture across site

You'll be maintaining equipment including:

  • Shredders
  • Balers
  • Shears
  • Conveyor systems
  • Cranes
  • Wheel loaders
  • Bulldozers
  • Heavy industrial processing equipment

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (Level 2 will also be considered where supported by significant time-served experience)
  • Previous mechanical maintenance experience within a heavy industrial environment
  • Strong understanding of planned preventative maintenance systems
  • Excellent mechanical fault-finding skills
  • Ability to work independently and use your own initiative

Desirable

  • Basic electrical knowledge
  • Hydraulic fault finding and repair
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Counterbalance FLT licence
  • IPAF qualification
  • IOSH qualification
  • Experience operating Cherry Pickers and Scissor Lifts
  • Experience working at height
  • Experience working in confined spaces
  • Previous experience within recycling, scrap, quarrying, mining, steel, aggregates or similar heavy industrial sectors

What's on Offer
