About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Draughtsperson to join a well‑established and reputable company within the construction and steel fabrication sector. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with structural steel experience looking to develop their career within a growing and forward‑thinking technical team. You will be responsible for producing high‑quality drawings and 3D models for a range of steel structures and portal frame buildings while supporting the wider project and fabrication teams to ensure smooth delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate general arrangement and fabrication drawings for steel‑framed buildings
- Model structural steelwork using CAD and 3D software (e.g. AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, Advance Steel)
- Prepare layout drawings, connection details, and fabrication packages
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, and the fabrication team
- Ensure drawings comply with industry standards and client specifications
- Communicate with architects, clients, and site teams where required
- Support continuous improvement of drawing processes
- Assist and mentor junior team members as you progress
Requirements
- Experience in a structural steel or fabrication drawing role
- Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software (preferably AutoCAD and Advance Steel)
- Strong understanding of steel structures and fabrication processes
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- High level of attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team
- Motivated with a desire to progress into a senior role
