Location: Newport, South Wales.
Job Type: Permanent.
Salary: £17-£18.50ph basic.
Shift: Monday to Friday 0830-1700 (hours may flex dependent on business needs and can involve some weekend work).

The Role
Our client is a busy and reputable automotive workshop providing high-quality servicing, repairs, and diagnostics for a wide range of vehicles. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a skilled and reliable Car Mechanic to join their team. You will be responsible for:
- Diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and completing routine maintenance to ensure vehicles are safe, reliable, and meet manufacturer standards.
About You
- Perform servicing, repairs, and maintenance on cars and light vehicles.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools.
- Carry out inspections and safety checks.
- Replace parts such as brakes, clutches, suspension, engines, and exhaust systems, timing belt/chain changes.
- Complete job cards and service documentation accurately.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Communicate clearly with customers and colleagues.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a mechanic/automotive technician.
- Relevant qualifications (NVQ/City & Guilds/IMI or equivalent preferred).
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full driving licence.
- MOT licence (desirable but not essential).
