The Engineer, Tendering produces all aspects of bid content to meet customer requirements. This is a wide-ranging role dealing primarily with the preparation of technical and commercial tenders. The Tendering Team provides a sales-focussed response to customers covering JDR’s full product offering and your role as an Engineer will be to support the sales process in conjunction with the external sales and project teams.
As the Engineer, Tendering (Oil & Gas) you will be responsible for:
- Reviewing all Client documentation and specifications. Clarifying any discrepancies or uncertainties during this review to ensure a sound basis for the tender.
- Co-ordinate all technical and supporting documentation involved with the sale of JDR products and services prior to obtaining management approval and submittal in a timely manner.
- Co-ordinate client clarifications and submission of responses, including attending customer meetings as required.
- Assisting with the sales enquiry and tendering process from receipt of “Budget” & “EPIC” enquiry through to order acceptance while dealing with customer enquiries, deadlines and requirements during the tendering stages.
- Ensuring a high level of accuracy is present in all output.
- Managing own workload to ensure tendering deadlines are met.
- Liaising with other JDR departments and teams to obtain assistance as required to complete a tender.
- Ensuring all tender content complies with JDR’s internal procedures, rules, and design manuals, or obtain approval to proceed against these from the necessary authority.
- Identifying and recording potential risks and seeking guidance from relevant departments to manage or mitigate.
- Assisting the order acceptance and handover process, through the review of customer purchase orders and engaging the relevant departments prior to handover to the project team.
- Continuous improvement and development of process, systems, and procedures.
You will have previous experience within a similar role in a tendering/proposal’s role. You must be able to demonstrate clear evidence of technical and commercial knowledge gained from a proposals or engineering background, ideally gained within the energy industry. We are looking for candidates with subsea cable experience and/or experience of the offshore industry.
Good administrative skills are needed, and you must be computer literate with knowledge of current software packages such as Microsoft Office and other CRM systems. You will possess excellent communication skills, together with the ability to work calmly under pressure. You will successfully manage multiple and complex proposals and other work to meet tight deadlines; all whilst paying attention to detail.
