As JDR’s exciting expansion into Cambois, Blyth continues to gain momentum, we are looking to recruit an Apprentice Planner to join our busy team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in operations, planning and manufacturing to gain hands‑on experience within a state‑of‑the‑art facility while working towards a recognised business or operations‑related qualification.

The Apprentice Planning Coordinator will support the Planning team in coordinating production activities, helping to ensure that customer orders are delivered on time and that manufacturing operations run efficiently. Working alongside experienced planners and operational teams, you will gain valuable experience in production scheduling, data analysis, inventory coordination and cross‑functional collaboration across the business.

During your apprenticeship, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Support the Planning team in converting customer orders into production schedules, ensuring this information is accurately entered into the company’s ERP planning system.
  • Assist in monitoring production schedules and operational activities to help ensure projects and manufacturing orders remain on track.
  • Communicate with different teams and departments to provide updates on production planning activities and highlight any potential risks or delays.
  • Support Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) activities, helping to ensure production resources are aligned with business demand.
  • Assist with tracking key operational KPIs to monitor production performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Help maintain accurate production data and system information, including manufacturing routings, run times and material requirements.
  • Support inventory planning and coordination with the supply chain team to ensure materials are available to meet production requirements.
  • Assist with analysing operational data to help improve planning accuracy and production efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering and Supply Chain teams to understand how planning supports the wider manufacturing operation.
  • Take part in continuous improvement activities aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and business performance.

About You

We are looking for an organised and motivated individual with an interest in business operations and planning who is eager to learn and develop their skills. You will ideally have:

  • A strong interest in operations, manufacturing or business planning.
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and other Office applications.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with different teams.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • The ability to analyse information and solve problems in a structured way.
  • A positive mindset and interest in developing within a fast‑paced environment.
