JDR designs, engineers, and manufactures subsea power cables, production umbilicals, intervention workover control systems, and end terminations and accessories, backed by a Product and Installation Service division that provides 24/7 product life-cycle support to clients across the US and UK.
We're looking for a Buyer to join our Supply Chain team in Houston. In this role, you'll communicate the specifications of required parts and services to vendors on JDR's approved vendor list, secure competitive bids where feasible, create and transmit purchase orders, and follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery - all in support of JDR's goals of reducing costs while improving quality and delivery.
What you'll do:
- Source and procure goods and contract technical services for manufacturing and servicing of customer orders from purchasing specs or requisitions
- Negotiate and obtain best price and delivery, keeping accurate records of all negotiations
- Work with the operations team to track and control project costs
- Check inventory availability before processing purchase requisitions and complete inventory transfers as required
- Maintain the inventory program for stocked items, monitoring minimum quantities and placing resupply orders
- Liaise with Accounting to reconcile invoices and purchase orders
- Maintain vendor relationships essential to JDR's business
- Support the Tendering team with quotes for parts and services
What you'll need:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems
- Previous experience as a Buyer preferred
- Technical experience in Subsea Oil & Gas applications preferred
- Strong time management, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
