JDR Cable Systems are delighted to be recruiting for our next intake of Production Operatives at our brand new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Cambois, Blyth. With the site recently handed back to us by our building contractors, we are well placed to move into production and establish full shift working, marking a significant milestone in our journey. There has never been a better time to join JDR; this is a rare opportunity to be part of a founding team, shaping the culture and standards of a world-class facility right from the very beginning. We are seeking motivated Production Operatives for this unique and exciting opportunity to be involved in the commissioning of cutting-edge machinery, offering plenty of hands-on learning and development opportunities alongside clear progression opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Safety First – promotes and adheres to the JDR safety rules and procedures.
- Follows and supports JDR operating principles – core competencies.
- Measure, grade and feed batches of raw materials into production machinery/process.
- Operate one or more of the following production line equipment: Wire Drawing; Stranding; Continuous Catenary Vulcanization; Screening; Sheathing; Vertical Layup Machine; Armorer; Taping and various ancillary equipment.
- Monitor the production process and carry out basic testing and quality checks.
- Carry out cleaning and basic maintenance of work areas and the machines.
- Report equipment faults to maintenance staff.
- Operating hand-controlled or computer-controlled machines.
- Ensure parts are to the correct tolerances and meet customer and internal standards and specifications.
- Record how much raw material has been used during production and the quantity produced.
- Stack/store goods appropriately.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate(s) will have experience operating similar manufacturing machinery and be accustomed to working to production targets.
- The post-holder will have the ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions and work standards, possess an eye for detail and a practical, hands-on approach to problem solving.
- It is also very important to have a good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure and the cost of poor quality.
- With an understanding of lean manufacturing and 5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain) process, it is desirable that you hold an IVQ Technician certificate, BTec first certificate or equivalent NVQ level 2 qualification.
