JDR Admin is a fast-growing, cloud-based accountancy practice supporting ambitious businesses across a wide range of industries - from TV producers and jewellery brands to leading consultants in the AI space. We pride ourselves on providing a proactive, personal service that goes beyond traditional compliance.
As a boutique firm, we’re able to move quickly, embrace new technology and build genuine relationships with both our clients and our team. With rapid growth over the last two years, we’re building a high-performing Birmingham-based team to take us further.
We’re looking for a capable accountant to own the day-to-day client relationship and preparation of work across a portfolio of clients, from bookkeeping through to draft accounts, tax and compliance, with technical review and sign-off before anything is finalised. This is a genuine hands-on practice role, not a supervisory one - ideal for someone who wants to build their technical experience across a real variety of clients, with support and review rather than being left to sink or swim.
What you’ll do
- Process client work start to finish - bookkeeping, VAT returns, year-end accounts, corporation tax, self-assessment tax returns and confirmation statements
- Own the relationship day to day - day-to-day client contact for queries, information requests and routine compliance
- Work to a review standard - your work is reviewed and signed off before it’s finalised
- Support onboarding - help bring new clients on board smoothly as we grow
- Keep work moving - manage deadlines through our cloud workflow
About you
- AAT qualified and/or part-qualified (ACCA / ACA) - or qualified by experience
- Comfortable handling a portfolio of small-company clients independently (accounts, VAT, bookkeeping, tax)
- Confident and personable with clients - happy being their day-to-day point of contact
- Organised and reliable, able to manage your own deadlines across multiple clients
- Strong on cloud accounting software (Xero especially; other platforms are a plus)
- Based in or around Birmingham
Nice to have
- Experience across a broad range of small-business and limited-company clients
- An interest in developing junior staff and progressing further as the practice grows
What we offer
- Salary up to £45,000
- Hybrid working with 2 days a week in office, and plans to expand to 3
- A real part in a growing Birmingham practice, with clear progression as we scale
- Modern, paperless, cloud-first ways of working
To apply, send your CV and a short note on why this role suits you. We encourage you to apply even if there’s something here that you want to discuss further.
