Temporary Purchase Ledger Assistant (24 hours per week)

We are looking for a Temporary Purchase Ledger Assistant to join our Finance team at our Head Office in Longtown for a 3‑to‑6‑month assignment.

This role is 24 hours per week over three consecutive days (work pattern to be arranged).

As a key member of the Purchase Ledger team, you will ensure all purchases are accurately recorded, authorised and accounted for, processing a high volume of invoices while maintaining excellent attention to detail and delivering outstanding service to suppliers and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process a high volume of supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure all purchases are correctly recorded, authorised and accounted for.
  • Manage supplier accounts, resolve invoice queries and ensure payments are processed on time.
  • Maximise available supplier discounts through effective account management.
  • Maintain and reconcile inter‑company accounts.
  • Process and control debit notes.
  • Record overhead costs and account for VAT.
  • Build positive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

We’re looking for someone who

  • Has previous experience in a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable role.
  • Is organised, proactive and passionate about delivering high‑quality work.
  • Works well as part of a team and can manage a busy workload.
  • Has excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Has a professional and confident telephone manner.
  • Is comfortable communicating with suppliers and colleagues at all levels.
  • Has experience with SAP Business One (desirable but not essential).
