Job Description
JDP Hereford is looking for a hands-on, customer-focused Driver/Yard Operative to join our team. If you enjoy being out on the road, take pride in delivering excellent service, and are happy to roll up your sleeves and support warehouse and yard operations, we'd love to hear from you. Our people are at the heart of what we do, and we're looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Driver / Yard Operative to become an important part of our Hereford branch team. This is a varied role combining customer deliveries with warehouse and yard responsibilities, making it perfect for someone who enjoys a mix of driving, teamwork, and practical hands-on work.
What You'll Be Doing
- Driving & Deliveries
- Safely operate a company 3.5T pick-up vehicle
- Deliver products accurately and on time to customers across Hereford and the surrounding areas
- Plan and follow efficient daily delivery routes
- Complete vehicle checks and maintain high standards of road safety
- Provide excellent customer service at every delivery point
- Follow all relevant driving legislation and company procedures
- Yard & Warehouse Operations
- Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders
- Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently
- Support stock management and stock checks
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure the branch runs smoothly each day
- Assist customers and support the wider team whenever needed
Qualifications
What We're Looking For
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements
- Knowledge of driver regulations and safe driving practices
- Ability to plan routes and manage deliveries effectively
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- A positive, hardworking attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work as part of a small, supportive team
- Previous experience in a warehouse, yard, builders' merchant, or distribution environment
