WHO YOU ARE
You're reliable, thoughtful and calm in a busy environment. You like bringing order to complexity and take pride in being someone others can depend on. You care about people having clear information and the right support to do good work, and you're comfortable asking questions and flagging issues early.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Studio planning & resource management: You support the day-to-day coordination of studio resource by keeping schedules, trackers and bookings accurate and up to date. You respond promptly to changes and help ensure everyone has clear, current information.
- Process & coordination: You follow and reinforce studio processes, supporting meetings, documentation and day-to-day administration. You flag gaps, errors or inconsistencies early so they can be resolved quickly.
- Insight & communication: You share information clearly and in a timely way with the studio, freelancers and wider teams. You ask questions when things aren't clear and escalate issues appropriately.
- Studio stewardship & risk awareness: You're attentive to how the studio is operating day to day. You notice practical issues that affect flow, morale or clarity and raise them with care.
- Commercial acumen: You understand the basics of budgets, freelancer bookings and approvals. You follow agreed processes and highlight anything that looks out of line.
- Team leadership & mentoring: You support interns, junior hires and freelancers with clear onboarding and day-to-day guidance. You take feedback on board and build confidence through reliability, care and consistency.
WHAT THIS ROLE LOOKS LIKE IN PRACTICE
A studio coordinator helps keep a busy creative studio running smoothly. You don't need to be a designer or know the industry inside out. What matters most is common sense, organisation, and being comfortable in a fast-moving environment.
On a typical day, you might:
- Keep schedules, trackers and bookings up to date so people know what they're working on and when.
- Respond to changes when plans shift, helping make sure everyone has the latest information.
- Support meetings by preparing notes, updating documents or following up actions.
- Help freelancers, interns or new starters get set up and feel welcomed.
- Answer questions from the studio and know when to help, when to ask, and when to elevate.
- Spot small issues early – missing information, clashing bookings, confusion – and flag them before they become bigger problems.
You'll work closely with the Global Studio Manager, learning how to plan work, balance priorities and support people to do their best work.
EXPERIENCE
While this would be beneficial, you don't need agency experience or to know specialist design software. We can teach the studio side. We can't teach common sense, care or energy.
What really helps in this role:
- You're confident using a Mac and everyday tools like email, calendars, spreadsheets and documents.
- You like being organised and keeping things tidy and up to date.
- You're comfortable asking questions and saying when something doesn't make sense.
- You notice details others miss.
- You bring energy, curiosity and a willingness to learn.
This role suits someone who enjoys being helpful, likes variety, and wants to build confidence in a creative environment over time.
LOCATION AND FLEXIBILITY
This is a 10-month maternity cover role for approximately 32 hours per week, based in our Tunbridge Wells studio. This is a hybrid role and we're looking for a minimum in-studio presence on Wednesdays and Fridays, as these are key coordination days, with a preference for 9am to 6pm on those days. That said, we're open to discussing flexible options and welcome applications from people returning to work or looking for part-time roles that fit around other commitments within our office hours of 9am to 6pm.
WHY WORK WITH US?
What makes JDO special is how we work together. We value conviction without ego, generosity without fuss and craft that holds up in the detail. You'll be encouraged to bring your point of view, ask better questions, learn from talented people around you and keep developing your voice.
Our promise to you is a career that matters: one where your talent is recognised, your growth is supported and your individuality is celebrated. We want people to do brilliant work, but not by becoming someone they are not.
We're proud to have been named Creativepool's Best Agency to Work For in both 2024 and 2025. That recognition matters to us because it reflects the kind of place we are building: high standards, real collaboration and a team that shows up for each other.
Alongside a competitive salary, we offer benefits that support rest, wellbeing, creativity and life outside work, including Fri-yays, where our studios close on the last Friday of most months, a day off on your birthday, end‐of‐year studio closure, an Employee Assistance Programme and a workplace nursery scheme to help with the cost of childcare.
