A rapidly growing AI and digital infrastructure developer is seeking a Design Manager with either an Electrical or Mechanical engineering background to support the development of large-scale data centre projects across Europe. This role is ideal for someone coming from an engineering consultancy or design practice, looking to move into the developer/client side and take ownership of the design management process across mission-critical infrastructure projects.

Role Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the design process across multiple data centre developments
  • Lead and oversee multidisciplinary consultant teams including electrical, mechanical, civil, and architectural disciplines
  • Ensure design deliverables meet technical standards, programme milestones, and budget requirements
  • Review engineering designs to ensure efficiency, resilience, and scalability
  • Act as the key interface between consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders
  • Support the transition from concept and detailed design through to construction
  • Identify opportunities for design optimisation, value engineering, and risk mitigation
  • Ensure infrastructure solutions meet high availability and operational requirements typical of mission-critical facilities

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
  • 7–10+ years of experience in engineering design or technical project delivery
  • Background in a consultancy or engineering design firm
  • Experience working on data centres, mission-critical facilities, or large-scale infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of electrical or mechanical building services systems
  • Experience managing or coordinating multidisciplinary design teams
