Overview
Role overview: This role requires a team player with flair and commercial ability, and the skill, energy and determination to help drive and develop the business alongside the General Manager. We are looking for a manager with experience of maintaining and developing the standards and reputation, whilst nurturing a growing membership base and team.
Responsibilities
- Operate the gym on a day‑to‑day basis to ensure the facility and services run smoothly and safely.
- Open and close the site as required by the business hours.
- Work early mornings, late weekdays and weekends as part of the shift pattern.
- Adhere to and enforce all Health and Safety policies and Company procedures.
- Maintain JD Gyms Brand Standards across the facility and interactions.
- Conduct daily, weekly and monthly safety checks and promptly report and chase defects to keep equipment and premises safe.
- Pursue and achieve sales and membership targets; drive and maximise secondary spend revenue.
- Ensure the gym is kept at the highest standard of cleanliness; oversee outside of contract cleaning hours.
- supervise in‑house cleaners to ensure high cleaning standards are met.
- Ensure uniform standards are followed by all team members and contractors.
- Foster a positive, engaging work environment for the team and contracted personnel.
- Undertake other reasonable duties, projects or meetings as required and act as an ambassador for JD Gyms.
Skills and Experience
- Experience, ideally in a management position within a leisure-related industry.
- Passionate about customer service and capable of inspirational leadership in team management.
- Qualified to at least Level 2 Gym Instructor.
- Experience in driving sales, coordinating local marketing activity, and managing a successful team.
- Experience as an Assistant Manager or Fitness Manager, overseeing multiple business areas within a leisure facility, is preferred.
