The Brief
As Commercial Director, you’ll own the end-to-end engine that sources, validates, launches and scales new consumer food brands into a national network. You’ll lead a lean, high impact team and operate with a blank sheet of paper: designing the strategy, building the pipeline, shaping the commercial structures, and creating the playbook that feeds the wider business every six months. This is not a portfolio management role. It’s hands on, high accountability, and central to the company’s growth trajectory.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the strategy for sourcing, selecting and launching new consumer food brands.
- Identify emerging cuisine, category and consumer trends using data and market insight.
- Lead founder engagement, negotiations and deal structures (including options and acquisitions).
- Design and run real world validation programmes to test and refine brands rapidly.
- Create clear stage gate processes to decide what scales and what stops.
- Develop go-to-market strategies across delivery and physical channels.
- Partner closely with culinary, operations, finance and commercial teams to prepare brands for scale.
- Build the system and tooling that allows the function to scale repeatedly and efficiently.
- Lead and grow a small, high performing team over time.
You Must Bring
- Senior leadership experience (Director / VP / MD level) in a highly commercial, analytical environment.
- Strong exposure to deal making, M&A, venture investing, corporate development, strategy consulting or founder led negotiations.
- Proven ability to operate in fast paced, ambiguous, build phase environments.
- Commercial creativity: able to structure win-win deals and long term value creation.
- Data fluency with the ability to turn insight into decisive action.
- Gravitas to influence senior stakeholders and lead high stakes decisions.
- A genuine passion for brands, food, and building things from zero to one.
- Experience in food, hospitality, consumer marketplaces or high growth platforms is a bonus.
