General Manager

Role overview:

This role requires an inspirational leader with proven flair and commercial ability, as well as the skill, energy, and determination to drive and develop the business. We\’re looking for a manager with experience in developing the standards and reputation of a gym while nurturing a growing membership base and team.

Responsibilities:

1. Ensure adherence to all policies and procedures in the Health and Safety Employee Policy and Company Procedures Handbook.
2. Maintain and adhere to the JD Gyms Brand Standard.
3. Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety checks. Report and address all defects to ensure the building and equipment are safe to use.
4. Recruit and manage a team of Fitness Coaches and General Assistants to ensure operational coverage and achievement of daily expectations.
5. Hold regular team meetings to promote development and keep staff updated.
6. Work towards and aim to achieve all set sales and membership targets.
7. Drive and maximize secondary spending revenue.
8. Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness throughout the gym facility.
9. Ensure in-house cleaners adhere to cleaning standards. Manage weekly banking to minimize wastage and variances, maximizing profit.
10. Ensure all team members, including yourself, adhere to uniform standards.
11. Deliver outstanding member service consistently.
12. Create an enjoyable work environment for the team.
13. Act as an ambassador of JD Gyms at all times.

Skills and Experience:

• Proven and successful management experience within the leisure industry.
• Passionate about customer service and capable of inspiring leadership.
• Qualified to at least Level 2 Gym Instructor.
• Proven track record in driving sales, managing local marketing activities, recruiting, and managing successful teams.
• Ideally, experience as a General Manager overseeing all business areas within a leisure facility or substantial experience as a Fitness Manager or similar operational role.
