The role involves joining the Financial Services team as a Senior Data Analyst - Fraud Strategy. This is a key position responsible for driving fraud strategy to protect the business from fraud and other financial crime. The ideal candidate will be an experienced fraud strategy professional who is highly data literate, with knowledge of platforms and techniques to combat fraud, and an understanding of the interplay between minimising fraud and maximising sales.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing support in all aspects of consumer fraud and financial crime, including knowledge of 1st and 3rd party fraud typologies and fraud detection data, techniques, and platforms.
  • Oversight of the fraud control rule structure, working closely with third-party fraud prevention solution providers, and leading continuous improvement in fraud strategy.
  • Ownership, design, and implementation of fraud strategies to detect and prevent consumer credit fraud.
  • Using data analysis and modelling techniques to optimise rules to detect fraud while minimising impact to good sales.
  • Monitoring KPIs and KRIs to ensure new fraud risks and emerging trends are detected and reviewed in a timely manner.
  • Building effective collaborations with other business areas and product owners to ensure business change initiatives align with fraud risk appetite.
  • Maintaining knowledge of regulatory changes to ensure fraud strategies adhere to governance, financial crime, and compliance standards.

Skills and experience required:

  • A degree in a STEM subject.
  • Previous experience in data analysis and strategy development for fraud prevention and detection.
  • Highly analytical with problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience using SQL, SAS, or Python for data mining and analysis.
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to explain complex analysis simply.
  • Strong organisational skills to prioritise and deliver output accurately and timely.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and build relationships across the business.
  • High attention to detail and initiative to work with ambiguity.

Desirable qualifications include experience in a consumer fraud analytical role for an online retail lender, familiarity with fraud decision systems, and experience in fraud model development.
