The role involves being a Finance Business Partner to the Trade & Marketing Teams with responsibilities including the strategic planning process for trade and marketing, prioritisation of investment choices, and delivery of performance insights to drive actions for our customer base. This role is key in optimising Trade & Marketing effectiveness and partnering with the Heads of Trade and Heads of Marketing to grow brands and accelerate retail transformation.
You will need strong commercial drive and acumen, a customer-first attitude, and proven finance business partnering experience in a high-paced customer environment. Reporting to the Senior Commercial Finance Manager for Trade & Marketing, this role is fundamental to delivering ambitious commercial objectives to accelerate brand reach, revenue & margin growth, and increase market share.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Partner the Trade & Marketing pillar to drive actions and initiatives for the Customer strategy.
- Influence strategic and business decision making through valuable financial insight and detailed analysis.
- Prepare investment business cases and manage them through the investment governance process.
- Identify and drive business initiatives to grow the business and hold stakeholders accountable for targets.
- Enhance commercial delivery by ensuring stakeholders understand their responsibilities for financial goals.
- Prepare financial reporting & insights for inclusion within board packs and other ceremonies.
- Develop and evolve weekly & month-end reporting and analysis.
- Collaborate with Finance & Retail domains through the 5-year plan, annual budget, and forecast processes.
- Ensure financial statements are accurate and auditable relating to trade & marketing costs.
- Manage workloads and support the Senior Commercial Finance Manager with continuous improvement.
Skills and Experience:
- Qualified accountant with more than 2 years’ experience in a high-paced commercial environment.
- Experience working alongside commercial teams in a retail environment is helpful.
- Strong commercial awareness and a customer-first approach.
- High-level commercial problem-solving & analysis skills.
- Able to influence and negotiate across all levels.
- Confident communication skills to influence outcomes.
- Technical ability to appraise complex situations and make timely decisions.
- Digitally literate with the capability to envision new business models.
- Innovative thinker who investigates new ways to deliver value.
- Data obsessed, using data to anticipate issues and identify opportunities.
- Customer & colleague centric, focusing on needs as the starting point for initiatives.
