Role overview: Working with the Head of Trading, this role will drive activities to ensure we achieve Revenue, Profit and EBIT targets for our Digital business. The role will work with Buying & Merchandising & Digital Marketing functions to appropriately plan & deliver the activity.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Trade Lead & Commercial Finance Teams to plan market targets & phasing.
  • Responsible for the digital trading calendar for the market.
  • Own & drive the key projects and enhancements for the market website & app channels.
  • Be aware of what competitors are doing, looking for new trends and developments.
  • Create the weekly trading summary and daily progress updates.
  • Review previous week’s performance and propose and agree actions for the week.
  • Review daily sales identifying areas of weakness, proposing and taking action to increase sales and ensuring optimal stock availability at all times.
  • Tracking, reporting and recommending solutions for slow sellers.
  • Suggesting markdown and promotional events in line with brand strategy and tracking performance and reporting on successes and missed opportunities.
  • Propose stories and sign off products selected by the Merchandisers to feature on mailers.
  • Propose features and sign off products selected by Merchandiser to promote on the site.
  • Review stores best sellers to promote the best of the stores lines.
  • Refine and optimise merchandising activity by analysing traffic and sales data to improve overall effectiveness across categories.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues across Digital Marketing, Retail and Marketing teams.
  • Develop & train the trading exec and their weekly workload.
  • Manage the relationship with Operational teams to ensure local warehouse fulfilment is maximised.
  • Manage the relationship with Customer Care to improve the customer experience.

Role objectives and KPI’s:

  • Assist the Digital Trading Head to deliver agreed sales targets.
  • Own the coordination of all channel and digital teams to effectively execute launches & campaigns.
  • Build upon existing strong relationships with various digital teams.
  • Responsible for delivering the JD Digital P&L.
  • Strong analytical skill set and confident working across a range of analytical platforms.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience managing a business P&L.
  • Confident working with large datasets and reporting tools (e.g. Excel, Power Bi, Google Analytics, etc).
  • Experience working within a Trading function.
  • A good understanding of other areas of an ecommerce business including Merchandising, Content, performance marketing and Customer Logistics.
  • Able to develop and upskill more junior members of the team.
