Overview
Employee Relations Advisor β Supply Chain at JD Sports Fashion. The role provides generalist employee relations advice and support to colleagues and managers across Retail, Gyms, Supply Chain and Head Office, driving best practice and ensuring compliance with company policies and employment legislation.
Responsibilities
- Provide practical and effective first line employee relations advice across the Group to Line Managers and colleagues in Retail, Gyms, Supply Chain and Head Office, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management and family-friendly policies.
- Manage queries empathetically and communicate outcomes clearly to minimise appeals.
- Collaborate with the wider People team, sharing knowledge and expertise.
- Coach Line Managers to manage and resolve employee relations matters through to appropriate conclusions.
- Support Line Managers and the wider People team during meetings.
- Maintain excellent knowledge of current employment legislation, best practice and case law.
- Work autonomously with prioritisation, seeking guidance from the People Leadership team when required.
- Use Occupational Health appropriately within casework and write referrals to OH Advisors.
- Ensure fair and proportionate application of employee relations policies, while identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Understand the Groupβs statutory regulatory responsibilities and maintain clear audit trails for People records in accordance with GDPR.
- Support critical monthly and annual People processes within relevant timescales and assist with project work when required.
Skills And Experience
- Level 5 CIPD qualification or equivalent (Level 3 may be considered with substantial HR generalist experience and a desire to gain Level 5).
- Current, in-depth knowledge of HR legislation and best practice; experience as an HR/People/ER Advisor, preferably in a retail or fast-paced environment with high-volume, complex caseloads.
- Experience offering advice and minutes in formal meetings, with accurate documentation.
- Strong communication and influencing skills; ability to challenge current practices where appropriate.
- Clear, articulate communication with stakeholders across the business.
- Proficient in Office 365 and HRIS (Dayforce experience would be advantageous).
- Accurate typing and attention to detail; flexible to work outside standard hours to support a 24/7 operation.
