Role overview
We are seeking a skilled Assistant Manager with strong leadership & communication abilities to guide their team towards achieving sales & KPI targets whilst providing unparalleled service.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the Store Manager in effectively running all store operations to ensure meeting or exceeding sales & KPI targets.
- Setting clear sales goals, tracking performances whilst evolving processes to ensure continuous store growth.
- Creating a positive team culture through recruiting, training & continuously developing your staff.
- Building a motivated and high performing team, increasing chances of store success.
- Analysing sales data and financial reports to make quick and well‑informed decisions alongside the Store Manager, identifying and responding to areas of opportunity operationally & commercially.
- Acting as the point of contact for colleagues in the manager’s absence.
- Providing excellent customer service, addressing inquiries and resolving complaints professionally.
- Managing day‑to‑day operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Supporting cash management tasks, such as processing transactions and reconciling tills.
- Participating in hiring, onboarding, and training new employees.
- Providing feedback and coaching to colleagues to improve performance.
- Supporting the Store Manager in maintaining colleague schedules to ensure proper coverage and productivity.
Role objectives and KPI’s:
- Contributing to achieving or exceeding the store’s monthly sales target.
- Driving all additional KPIs including but not limited to Units, Conversion, ATV, UPT.
- Achieving upselling or cross‑selling targets.
- Maintaining a high Net Promotor Score.
- Ensuring stock accuracy during store audits.
- Ensuring all new colleagues complete mandatory training.
- Ensuring employee satisfaction and engagement survey results meet or exceed company benchmarks.
- Assisting in keeping operational costs within the allocated budget.
Skills and Experience
- Previous supervisory or management experience in a fast‑paced retail/customer‑facing environment.
- Passionate about retail & hold a good understanding of the latest trends and our competitors.
- Previous experience of coaching and developing individuals.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets and KPI’s.
- Experience in analysing KPI data to make commercial decisions.
- Keen eye for detail & commerciality.
- Previous experience within visual merchandising would be advantageous.
- Promoting JD Group values to internal and external stakeholders.
