Role overview

We are seeking a skilled Assistant Manager with strong leadership & communication abilities to guide their team towards achieving sales & KPI targets whilst providing unparalleled service.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Store Manager in effectively running all store operations to ensure meeting or exceeding sales & KPI targets.
  • Setting clear sales goals, tracking performances whilst evolving processes to ensure continuous store growth.
  • Creating a positive team culture through recruiting, training & continuously developing your staff.
  • Building a motivated and high performing team, increasing chances of store success.
  • Analysing sales data and financial reports to make quick and well‑informed decisions alongside the Store Manager, identifying and responding to areas of opportunity operationally & commercially.
  • Acting as the point of contact for colleagues in the manager’s absence.
  • Providing excellent customer service, addressing inquiries and resolving complaints professionally.
  • Managing day‑to‑day operations, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Supporting cash management tasks, such as processing transactions and reconciling tills.
  • Participating in hiring, onboarding, and training new employees.
  • Providing feedback and coaching to colleagues to improve performance.
  • Supporting the Store Manager in maintaining colleague schedules to ensure proper coverage and productivity.

Role objectives and KPI’s:

  • Contributing to achieving or exceeding the store’s monthly sales target.
  • Driving all additional KPIs including but not limited to Units, Conversion, ATV, UPT.
  • Achieving upselling or cross‑selling targets.
  • Maintaining a high Net Promotor Score.
  • Ensuring stock accuracy during store audits.
  • Ensuring all new colleagues complete mandatory training.
  • Ensuring employee satisfaction and engagement survey results meet or exceed company benchmarks.
  • Assisting in keeping operational costs within the allocated budget.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous supervisory or management experience in a fast‑paced retail/customer‑facing environment.
  • Passionate about retail & hold a good understanding of the latest trends and our competitors.
  • Previous experience of coaching and developing individuals.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets and KPI’s.
  • Experience in analysing KPI data to make commercial decisions.
  • Keen eye for detail & commerciality.
  • Previous experience within visual merchandising would be advantageous.
  • Promoting JD Group values to internal and external stakeholders.
