Role Purpose

The IT Delivery Manager is responsible for coordinating and delivering medium‑scale IT initiatives that fall between standard service operations and formally governed PMO projects. The role acts as a technical delivery lead, translating demand requests from the IT demand forum into structured delivery plans, coordinating cross‑functional IT teams, and ensuring initiatives are delivered effectively with appropriate governance, reporting, and budget oversight. Typical initiatives may include retail technology rollouts, infrastructure upgrades, device deployments, and store technology refresh programmes across the UK and Europe. This role operates as a junior technical project manager, focused on operational delivery within the IT function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demand & Delivery Management: Assess and scope requests submitted through the newly implemented IT demand forum.
  • Business Analysis: Perform initial business analysis and translate demand into delivery plans. Coordinating activities across multiple IT teams to deliver initiatives.
  • Technical Delivery Coordination: Manage operational IT initiatives from planning through implementation, track milestones, dependencies, and delivery progress, and ensure alignment with IT change management and operational processes.
  • Governance & Reporting: Maintain clear documentation, delivery tracking, and reporting; manage risks, issues, and dependencies; provide delivery updates to IT leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for delivery of operational IT initiatives, communicate timelines, risks, and progress, and influence and coordinate teams without direct authority.
  • Budget & Resource Oversight: Support budget tracking and resource coordination for delivery initiatives, working with internal teams and suppliers where required.

Key Skills & Experience – Essential

  • Experience working in IT operations, infrastructure, service delivery, or technical project coordination.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to coordinate delivery across multiple technical teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with IT governance and change management processes.
  • Ability to structure and manage delivery activities independently.

Key Skills & Experience – Desirable

  • Experience within retail technology environments.
  • Knowledge of store systems, POS infrastructure, or device deployments.
  • Familiarity with ITIL or operational service frameworks.
  • Exposure to project delivery methodologies (accreditation is not always required).
