Financial Accountant – Group Reporting

Responsible to: Senior Finance Manager – Group Reporting

Department: Finance

Location: Bury, Greater Manchester. BL9 8RR

Role overview:

This position is a key role within the Group Reporting team which is responsible for the delivery of the group month end close process, providing balance sheet and working capital performance analysis, and unlocking benefits from the newly implemented Oracle consolidation system.

As Financial Accountant, your responsibilities will be supporting the group’s month end close and multicurrency consolidation processes. You will work closely with other group finance teams including External Reporting, Finance Transformation, FP&A and Internal Controls, local finance teams across the UK, Europe, APAC and North America, and our external auditors (Deloitte).

  • You will work within a team of 3 Financial Accountants to deliver the monthly close of the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow and support the group’s half and full year external reporting timetable. Responsibilities may include:
    • Working with local units to ensure timely submissions and address issues
    • Analyse balance sheet, working capital and cash flow movements and support production of Board reporting packs.
    • Own specific disclosures and notes in the Group half and full year results.
    • Equity and reserves accounting.
    • Monthly and year end reporting to the Group’s ultimate parent.
    • Intercompany balances and eliminations.
    • Adjusting and monitoring new balance sheet KPIs.
    • Acquisition, disposal and non-controlling interest accounting.
    • Support in establishing and monitoring new balance sheet KPIs with reporting units.
    • Preparing consolidation journals and operating associated controls.
    • Supporting the work of the Group Internal Controls programme and taking responsibility for the successful operation and testing of controls.
    • Working closely with the external auditor to deliver on plan per the required timescales.
  • You will support in ongoing transformation activity which may include:
    • Embedding the newly implemented Oracle consolidation system and taking advantage of opportunities it offers to bring best practice to the Group Reporting team and bring forward the month end close process.
    • Working with the Finance Transformation team to implement further phases of the transformation process.

Skills/Experience/Knowledge required:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or Equivalent).
  • Involvement in month end close process or multicurrency consolidation advantageous, ideally on an Oracle platform.
  • Advanced Excel skills, TM1 experience advantageous.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Positive, flexible, enthusiastic and driven.
