Responsibilities:
- Establish a secure, scalable, and well-governed developer tooling landscape, focusing on the GitHub Enterprise estate and improving governance and management of core tools such as PagerDuty and Docker.
- Deliver infrastructure-as-code–managed toolchain, enabling repeatable configuration, improved auditability of changes, and effective drift detection across GitHub and broader developer tooling.
- Contribute to a continuously improving developer platform, using operational insight and developer feedback to evolve tooling, standards, patterns, guidance, and governance over time.
- Identify and mitigate security risks in tool configuration, integration, and usage patterns, reducing the likelihood of misconfiguration and privilege misuse.
- Ensure secure-by-default configuration, patterns, and guardrails are embedded into tooling and are easily consumable by development teams.
- Ensure tools are configured and operated in line with government and organisational security standards.
- Work with the SOC team to improve monitoring and alerting across critical tools.
- Ensure auditability and compliance through improved visibility, logging, and traceability of changes across the tool estate.
- Improve tooling IDAM and privileged access management, aligned to the direction set from the Engineering Access team.
