I'm partnering with a global transformer manufacturer who are now expanding their UK footprint off the back of winning several key projects. Our client is a globally recognised engineering and manufacturing organisation specialising in high-voltage power transmission and transformer technologies. With a strong track record delivering large-scale grid infrastructure projects worldwide, the company is known for its technical excellence, advanced manufacturing capabilities, and continued investment in innovation.
As part of its growth strategy in the UK, the organisation is expanding its technical team to support increasing project demand across transmission and distribution networks. The Senior Technical Engineer – Power Transformers will play a key role across the full lifecycle of transformer projects, from early-stage tendering and technical bid support through to project delivery, site installation, and commissioning. This is a highly technical, customer-facing position requiring close collaboration with commercial, engineering, and project teams to ensure successful execution of complex high-voltage transformer projects within the UK market.
- Tendering & Technical Sales Support
- Support commercial teams with technical presentations and clarifications
- Project Engineering
- Act as the technical lead throughout project execution, ensuring alignment with client requirements and specifications
- Review and approve designs, drawings, and engineering documentation
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, consultants, and EPC contractors
- Attend technical meetings and resolve engineering queries throughout the project lifecycle
- Manufacturing & Factory Interface
- Support factory activities including design validation, FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), and quality assurance processes
- Ensure technical compliance and performance standards are met
- Installation & Commissioning
- Provide technical support during site installation and commissioning phases
- Risk Management & Problem Solving
- Identify and mitigate technical risks across project stages
- Lead root cause analysis for technical challenges and implement corrective actions
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Significant experience in power transformer engineering, ideally across both design and project delivery. Proven involvement in projects spanning tendering through to commissioning. Experience working with DNOs, TSOs, or EPC contractors in the UK. Familiarity with HV and EHV transformer systems, testing, and commissioning processes. Strong technical expertise combined with commercial awareness. Ability to manage complex projects and multiple interfaces. Willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally internationally.
