Power Systems Engineer – Renewable Energy (London based focusing on Italian projects)
Our client is a fast‑growing renewable energy development business operating across the UK and Italian markets. With a strong pipeline of solar, wind, and storage projects, the company is dedicated to accelerating the transition to clean energy through strategic site development, advanced engineering, and innovative grid solutions.
As the business continues expanding its European footprint, they are seeking an experienced Power Systems Engineer, both mid-level and senior experience with hands‑on expertise supporting Italian renewable energy projects.
The Role
This is a key technical position within the engineering team, responsible for delivering power systems studies and grid integration support across the company’s project pipeline. The successful candidate will work closely with project developers, external consultants, and grid operators in both the UK and Italy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver power system studies including load flow, short‑circuit, dynamic analysis, and grid connection assessments.
- Support the grid connection application process for Italian renewable energy projects, including interface with Terna and local DSOs.
- Model and analyse renewable energy assets (solar PV, BESS, wind) using industry‑standard software.
- Provide technical due diligence on new project opportunities in Italy and the UK.
- Collaborate with internal development teams to optimise site design, project feasibility, and grid compliance.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay up‑to‑date with Italian and UK grid codes, regulatory updates, and connection requirements.
About You
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience working on Italian renewable energy projects is essential.
- Strong understanding of Terna grid code requirements and Italian grid connection processes.
- Experience with modelling tools such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, PSS®E, or similar.
- Familiarity with UK grid codes and National Grid ESO processes is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced environment.
- Based in London (or willing to relocate with support provided for this)
