Project Director – Major HVDC Infrastructure Project – UK
I’m working with a company playing a crucial role in a landmark HVDC infrastructure project in the UK, and we are looking to find a Project Director to manage this entire project.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the delivery of a high-profile HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) interconnector project. This role will oversee all phases of the project lifecycle, ensuring successful execution in line with contractual, technical, and financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Drive the overall project strategy, ensuring alignment with client requirements and regulatory standards.
- Project Delivery: Manage engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities for HVDC systems, including converter stations and cable installation.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, fostering strong relationships and transparent communication.
- Risk & Compliance: Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Financial Oversight: Control budgets, monitor costs, and deliver the project within agreed financial parameters.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead multidisciplinary teams, promoting collaboration and high performance. Currently there is 30 people in the teams, but rapidly growing.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven track record in delivering large‑scale infrastructure or energy projects, ideally within HVDC or power transmission sectors.
- Strong understanding of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) contracts and project governance.
- Strong experience across HVDC offshore projects.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline; PMP or similar certification is a plus.
