We’re working with an early‑stage, well‑funded energy technology client that’s building a next‑generation platform for decentralized renewable energy. As they move towards first trading, they’re looking to hire a Portfolio Manager to play a foundational role in shaping portfolio management, commercial structures and early trading strategy. This is a rare opportunity to join a business pre‑trading, where the successful hire will have genuine influence over how the portfolio, systems and commercial processes are designed from day one.
This role sits between portfolio management and commercial leadership, operating at the intersection of trading, structuring and platform development. The client is developing innovative peer‑to‑peer and PPA‑driven energy models, and needs someone comfortable navigating complexity, ambiguity and fast‑moving decision‑making.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and managing a UK power portfolio sourced from decentralized and peer‑to‑peer PPA structures
- Supporting deal origination, pricing and structuring of bespoke renewable contracts
- Developing views on intermittency, imbalance, shaping and half‑hourly risk
- Optimizing portfolio value across short-, mid- and long-term markets through trading and innovative structuring
- Translating complex PPAs and commercial contracts into clear, operationally workable models
- Acting as a commercial bridge between technology, analytics, counterparties and end clients
- Supporting early trading readiness, offtake discussions and client engagement
- Contributing to the build‑out and deployment of the platform over the next 6–12 months
Who they’re looking for:
Our client is looking for someone commercially strong, technically credible and entrepreneurial in mindset. You’re likely to have:
- Experience in renewables, peer‑to‑peer energy models, PPA‑driven portfolios or innovative market structures
- A track record of working with complex or non‑standard energy contracts
- Comfort managing intermittency‑driven, half‑hourly settled portfolios
- The ability to clearly communicate technical and contractual detail to commercial stakeholders
- An appetite for building systems, processes and tools, not just operating existing ones
- A hands‑on approach suited to a lean, start‑up environment
Why this role?
- Opportunity to shape a business before it starts trading
- Exposure to cutting‑edge decentralized and peer‑to‑peer energy models
- Close collaboration with founders, technologists and commercial leaders
- Remote‑first working setup
- Competitive base salary with potential upside through bonus or sign‑on incentives
If you’re excited by building something genuinely new in the energy market, and want a role with real influence rather than inherited constraints, this is a standout opportunity. Apply now with your CV and we will be in contact to discuss your application!
