The Role
As an Electrical Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of EV charging infrastructure across Northern Ireland and Ireland. This field-based role offers the opportunity to work on a range of cutting-edge charging solutions while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
You will play a key role in delivering reliable charging infrastructure by carrying out electrical installations, fault diagnosis, preventative maintenance, and collaboration with project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Install and commission EV charging stations at commercial and public locations.
- Interpret electrical drawings, cable calculations, installation guides, and technical documentation.
- Perform electrical testing, inspection, and certification of completed installations.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, communication, and software-related faults.
- Carry out planned and preventative maintenance activities on charging infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate installation, maintenance, and service records using digital systems.
- Liaise with supervisors and project stakeholders, providing regular progress updates.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Irish electrical regulations and health & safety requirements.
- Support project delivery teams to achieve installation targets and programme deadlines.
- Participate in training activities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- FETAC/QQI Level 6 qualification in Electrical Installation, recognised equivalent, City & Guilds qualification, or equivalent European electrical certification.
- Hands-on experience in electrical installation and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of Irish electrical regulations, particularly I.S. 10101.
- Valid SafePass certification or recognised equivalent.
- Proven experience completing electrical installations independently.
- Ability to diagnose and rectify electrical faults efficiently.
- Full clean Category B driving licence.
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with EV charging infrastructure.
- Experience installing and maintaining DC fast chargers from 50kW to 400kW+.
- Safe Electric EV Charging Course certification.
- Experience within renewable energy, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
