We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Coded Pipe Welder to join our team, working as a contractor in industrial laundries across the UK. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in welding stainless steel and carbon steel pipework, with a strong commitment to quality and safety. This role involves working at multiple sites nationwide, so a willingness to travel and stay away when required is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with other tradespeople to ensure project timelines are met and work flows smoothly.
  • Perform high-quality, technically sound pipe welding in accordance with design requirements and industry standards.
  • Weld using various processes (e.g., TIG, MMA/Stick) on mild steel and stainless steel pipework.
  • Interpret and work accurately from engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding specifications.
  • Prepare pipe materials, including cutting, grinding, bevelling, and fit-up, ensuring correct alignment and gap.
  • Maintain welding equipment and consumables in good working order.
  • Document and record all work performed, including material traceability and weld logs.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and best practices while on-site.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Pipe Welder in an industrial setting (e.g., steam, oil & gas, process plants, heavy manufacturing).
  • A strong commitment to maintaining high standards of safety in all work activities.
  • Demonstrable expertise in welding mild steel and stainless steel pipe to a high standard.
  • Proficient in Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG/GTAW) welding and Manual Metal Arc (MMA/SMAW) welding.
  • Ability to work in various physical positions and environments, including working at height.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of pipefitting and mechanical installation techniques.

Essential Qualifications:

Current, recognised Welder Approval Codes/Certificates relevant to process pipework.

Note to Applicant: Please provide details of your current qualifications (if applicable), including the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) numbers, the material groups (e.g., Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel), weld positions (e.g., 6G, etc.), and the welding process used (e.g., 141/TIG, 111/MMA). Desirable (but not essential) Qualifications & Attributes:

  • Experience in M&E projects within industrial laundries or boiler houses.
  • Relevant safety certifications (e.g., CSCS Card, Confined Space training, working at height).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a site team.
