Role Description

The Duty Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at JD Gyms in St Helens.

This role oversees the daily operation of the gym, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for members and visitors.

Responsibilities include supervising the team on shift, coordinating staff schedules, and supporting front-of-house activities such as member inquiries, tours, and sign-ups.

The Duty Manager monitors facility standards, conducts regular checks on equipment and cleanliness, and ensures adherence to health and safety procedures.

The role also involves handling member feedback, assisting with local marketing initiatives, and supporting sales and retention efforts to meet site performance targets.

Qualifications

  • Experience in fitness, leisure, or hospitality operations, with skills in team supervision and shift management.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to engage positively with members and colleagues.
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills, including managing multiple tasks, prioritizing workload, and responding effectively to issues on site.
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices in a gym or similar environment; first aid training or willingness to obtain certification is beneficial.
