Gyms Duty Manager - Barnsley
Role overview
This role requires a team player with flair and commercial ability, and the skill, energy and determination to help drive and develop the business alongside the General Manager.
We are looking for a manager with experience of maintaining and developing the standards and reputation, whilst nurturing a growing membership base and team.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the operational running of the gym at all times, opening and closing the site according to operational hours.
- Work early in the morning, late weekdays, and weekends.
- Ensure all policies and procedures in the Health and Safety Employee Policy and Company Procedures Handbook are adhered to.
- Adhere to and maintain the JD Gyms Brand Standard.
- Conduct daily, weekly and monthly safety checks, report and chase defects to keep the building and equipment safe.
- Work towards and aim to achieve all sales and membership targets set.
- Drive and maximise secondary spend revenue.
- Ensure the whole gym facility is of the highest standard of cleanliness, maintaining outside of contract cleaning hours.
- Ensure the in‑house cleaners (General Assistant) maintain a high cleaning standard.
- Ensure uniform standards are adhered to by all team members and yourself.
- Always deliver outstanding member service.
- Create an environment where the team and contract personnel enjoy themselves whilst at work.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties, projects or meetings as required.
- Be an ambassador of JD Gyms.
Skills and Experience
- Experience in a management position within a leisure‑related industry.
- Passion for customer service and inspirational leadership.
- Qualified to at least Level 2 Gym Instructor.
- Experience driving sales and coordinating local marketing activities and managing a successful team.
- Experience as an Assistant Manager overseeing all business areas within a leisure facility, or substantial experience as a Fitness Manager or similar operational function.
