Location Strategy & Insight – Junior Data Analyst (Global)
JD Sports Fashion Plc is a leading international multi-channel retailer of sports, outdoor and fashion brands.

Location: Bury
Hours: 40 Hours Per Week – (hours of work will be flexible and dictated by the needs of the business. It is expected that the successful applicant will work those hours necessary to successfully fulfil the duties of the role).

Role Overview
The position of Junior Data Analyst is key to supporting the expansion of JD across Europe. Working within the Location Strategy Data team, the role will provide accurate demographic, market share and competitor data, to support the Location Strategy Analyst team’s assessment of JD store opportunities across Global markets.
Responsibilities
- Processing and analysis of customer origins from Loyalty Card data or Check Out surveys globally.
- Build demographic and market demand databases.
- Mapping of JD store catchments, competitors and market share.
- Maintain European competition databases to measure competitor activity and impacts.
- Source and integrate new data products to enhance the understanding of store performance, assessment of new opportunities and support expansion into new territories.
- Processing and analysis of Online sales data to provide omni-channel insight.
- Development of JD Site Score Retail rankings to prioritise new store openings.
- Support the Location Strategy team with ad hoc analysis and on-site fieldwork.
- Maintain/support development of internal Geospatial platforms.
- Maintain/support development of internal data models.
Requirements
- Degree in Geography, Economics, Business, Data Science or similar.
- Interest in consumers and their interaction with store locations and digital channels.
- Passion for spatial data and software.
- Numerate and analytical with strong level of attention to detail.
- A good understanding of Excel.
- Experience of demographic data, GIS and analytical software (e.g. Geo‑demographics, ArcGIS/QGIS, Alteryx, Power Query, SQL, R, Python, Arcade); full training and development provided.
- A good team player with strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise with both internal departments and external suppliers in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Valid Passport.
