The IT Delivery Manager is responsible for coordinating and delivering medium-scale IT initiatives that fall between standard service operations and formally governed PMO projects. The role acts as a technical delivery lead, translating demand requests from the IT demand forum into structured delivery plans, coordinating cross-functional IT teams, and ensuring initiatives are delivered effectively with appropriate governance, reporting, and budget oversight. Typical initiatives may include retail technology rollouts, infrastructure upgrades, device deployments, and store technology refresh programmes across the UK and Europe. This role operates as a junior technical project manager, focused on operational delivery within the IT function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demand & Delivery Management
    • Assess and scope requests submitted through the (newly implemented) IT demand forum
    • Perform initial business analysis and translate demand into delivery plans
    • Coordinate activities across multiple IT teams to deliver initiatives
  • Technical Delivery Coordination
    • Manage operational IT initiatives from planning through implementation
    • Track milestones, dependencies, and delivery progress
    • Ensure alignment with IT change management and operational processes
  • Governance & Reporting
    • Maintain clear documentation, delivery tracking, and reporting
    • Manage risks, issues, and dependencies
    • Provide delivery updates to IT leadership and key stakeholders
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Act as the primary point of contact for delivery of operational IT initiatives
    • Communicate timelines, risks, and progress clearly to technical and business stakeholders
    • Influence and coordinate teams without direct authority
  • Budget & Resource Oversight
    • Support budget tracking and resource coordination for delivery initiatives
    • Work with internal teams and suppliers where required

The IT Tech Ops Delivery Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing all store technology activities associated with new store openings, closures, and refurbishments across the JD Group estate. The role acts as a central coordination point within Technology Operations, ensuring that all store IT components — including POS systems, tills, handheld devices, back office PCs, content management screens, and connectivity infrastructure — are planned, ordered, delivered, and deployed in line with agreed schedules. A key responsibility of the role is to coordinate high-volume delivery activity across more than 100 stores per year, working closely with IT Delivery Managers, suppliers, logistics teams, and field engineers to ensure all technology is in place and ready for installation and handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery Coordination & Planning
    • Coordinate all IT activities required for store openings, closures, and refurbishments
    • Develop and manage delivery schedules for store technology deployments
    • Ensure all required store IT kit is identified, ordered, and delivered in line with timelines
    • Track progress across multiple concurrent store initiatives
  • Technology & Logistics Coordination
    • Coordinate the ordering of store technology including POS systems, tills, handheld devices, back office PCs, content screens, and connectivity equipment
    • Work closely with suppliers, stock and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of all required kit
    • Maintain visibility of stock availability, lead times, and delivery schedules
    • Ensure all equipment is delivered to the correct locations ahead of installation
  • Deployment & Installation Coordination
    • Coordinate field engineers, regional teams, and IT Delivery Managers to align installation activities
    • Ensure all parties are scheduled and prepared for store installs, closures, and refurbishments
    • Support successful installation, testing, and handover of store technology
    • Track completion and sign-off of all deployment activities
  • Resource & Team Coordination
    • Align activities across IT Delivery Managers and technical teams to meet delivery timelines
    • Ensure clear communication of tasks, responsibilities, and schedules
    • Coordinate across multiple workstreams and geographic locations
  • Governance & Tracking
    • Maintain clear tracking of all store delivery activities, orders, and installations
    • Ensure all tasks are completed, documented, and signed off appropriately
    • Identify and elevate risks, delays, or dependencies impacting delivery
    • Provide regular updates to IT leadership on delivery progress
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Act as a central coordination point between IT, suppliers, logistics, and field teams
    • Communicate delivery plans, timelines, and progress clearly
    • Ensure alignment between technology delivery and store operational readiness
  • Operational Support
    • Support continuous improvement of store delivery and deployment processes
    • Help standardise approaches to store technology rollout across the estate
    • Contribute to improving efficiency and consistency in high-volume delivery activity
