Role Overview

The IT Delivery Manager is responsible for coordinating and delivering medium‑scale IT initiatives that lie between standard service operations and formally governed PMO projects. The role acts as a technical delivery lead, translating demand requests from the IT demand forum into structured delivery plans, coordinating cross‑functional IT teams, and ensuring initiatives are delivered effectively with appropriate governance, reporting, and budget oversight. Typical initiatives include retail technology roll‑outs, infrastructure upgrades, device deployments and store technology refresh programmes across the UK and Europe.

This position operates as a junior technical project manager focused on operational delivery within the IT function. It is part of the IT Tech Ops delivery function, working alongside two other delivery managers responsible for coordinating operational IT initiatives across the group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage demand & delivery: assess and scope requests submitted through the IT demand forum.
  • Perform initial business analysis and translate demand into delivery plans.
  • Coordinate activities across multiple IT teams to deliver initiatives.
  • Manage operational IT initiatives from planning through implementation.
  • Track milestones, dependencies, and delivery progress.
  • Ensure alignment with IT change management and operational processes.
  • Maintain clear documentation, delivery tracking, and reporting.
  • Manage risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Provide delivery updates to IT leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for delivery of operational IT initiatives.
  • Communicate timelines, risks, and progress clearly to technical and business stakeholders.
  • Influence and coordinate teams without direct authority.
  • Support budget tracking and resource coordination for delivery initiatives.
  • Work with internal teams and suppliers where required.
  • Coordinate all IT activities required for store openings, closures, and refurbishments.
  • Develop and manage delivery schedules for store technology deployments.
  • Ensure all required store IT kit is identified, ordered, and delivered in line with timelines.
  • Track progress across multiple concurrent store initiatives.
  • Coordinate ordering of store technology including POS systems, tills, handheld devices, back‑office PCs, content screens and connectivity equipment.
  • Work closely with suppliers, stock and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of all required kit.
  • Maintain visibility of stock availability, lead times and delivery schedules.
  • Ensure all equipment is delivered to the correct locations ahead of installation.
  • Coordinate field engineers, regional teams and IT Delivery Managers to align installation activities.
  • Support successful installation, testing and handover of store technology.
  • Track completion and sign‑off of all deployment activities.
  • Align activities across IT Delivery Managers and technical teams to meet delivery timelines.
  • Coordinate across multiple workstreams and geographic locations.
  • Maintain clear tracking of all store delivery activities, orders and installations.
  • Identify and escalade risks, delays, or dependencies impacting delivery.
  • Provide regular updates to IT leadership on delivery progress.
  • Act as a central coordination point between IT, suppliers, logistics and field teams.
  • Support continuous improvement of store delivery and deployment processes.
  • Help standardise approaches to store technology rollout across the estate.
  • Contribute to improving efficiency and consistency in high‑volume delivery activity.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience working in IT operations, infrastructure, service delivery or technical project coordination.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to coordinate delivery across multiple technical teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with IT governance and change management processes.
  • Ability to structure and manage delivery activities independently.
  • Experience within retail technology environments.
  • Knowledge of store systems, POS infrastructure or device deployments.
  • Familiarity with ITIL or operational service frameworks.
  • Exposure to project delivery methodologies (accreditation not always required).
  • Experience coordinating logistics, ordering or delivery of technical equipment.
  • Ability to manage and track multiple concurrent activities across different locations.
  • Experience working with suppliers, logistics or field engineering teams.
  • Experience supporting store openings, closures or refurbishments.
  • Experience within a multi‑site retail or enterprise environment.
  • Experience working in fast‑paced, high‑volume delivery environments.
