The Marketplace Partner Manager plays a critical role in building and scaling the JD Outdoors marketplace proposition, helping to establish a profitable, high‑quality on‑site outdoor marketplace aligned to the wider business growth strategy. This role is responsible for identifying, onboarding, and managing strategic brand and partner relationships across core and complementary outdoor categories, ensuring the marketplace delivers a compelling and comprehensive product range for customers.
Working closely with Commercial, Digital Trading, and Mirakl teams, the Marketplace Partner Manager will lead end‑to‑end partner integration, oversee trading performance, and drive continuous growth through strong commercial governance, promotional activity, and data‑led decision making. The role combines commercial negotiation, marketplace operations, and trading optimisation, with accountability for partner performance, quality standards, and customer experience.
Through effective reporting, forecasting, and stakeholder collaboration, the Marketplace Partner Manager will maximise on‑site visibility, conversion, and profitability, while supporting the evolution of JD Outdoors’ wider omnichannel proposition.
What you will be responsible for:
- Brand & Partner Management
- Identify and onboard brands and partners within the outdoor sector, mapping core and complementary categories using data‑driven insights alongside commercial team objectives.
- Build a marketplace that offers a comprehensive outdoor product range.
- Negotiate commercial terms and lead meetings with brands.
- Prepare commercial proposals, outline partnership opportunities, and ensure contracts are signed.
- Support resource planning for brand management and onboarding.
- Collaborate with internal teams to onboard partners via Mirakl.
- Define processes and allocate resources for efficient integration.
- Manage product approval processes, ensuring compliance and alignment with business standards.
- Liaise with internal teams for approval of specific product lines.
- Trading Management
- Maintain strong relationships with partners to secure competitive products and pricing.
- Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) to monitor performance and engagement.
- Organise promotional events (e.g., Black Friday) and manage partner participation.
- Validate deals for authenticity and legal compliance.
- Coordinate with cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth execution of promotional campaigns.
- Oversee product creation and digital merchandising standards.
- Line‑manage an executive to ensure adherence to SOPs and workload management.
- Plan and forecast partner performance, implementing trading actions to drive growth.
- Work alongside Trading Lead to maximise on‑site merchandising, navigation and product categorisation to drive sales.
- Reporting & Analytics
- Provide performance reports to Buying and other stakeholders to inform future opportunities.
- Highlight successful products for retail purchasing.
- Build dashboards to track KPIs such as conversion rates and web analytics.
- Enforce quality metrics and monitor partner performance against SLAs.
