Position: Own Brand Junior Designer
Reporting to: Senior Designer
Department: Own Brand
Location: JD Sports Fashion plc, Edinburgh House Hollinsbrook Way, Pilsworth, Bury, BL9 8RR
Hours: Full time
Salary: Dependant on Experience
Key Duties/Responsibilities
- Build an understanding of each Own Brand’s DNA and the JD customer.
- Supported by Senior Designer design on-trend global ranges in-line with the brands DNA.
- Create clear, detailed functional and technical CADs and Tech Packs and utilise the PLM system, ensuring up to date throughout the season.
- Fully utilise pantones/coloro systems to ensure clear colour communication throughout the business.
- Create graphical assets to support design ranges.
- Create and maintain Branding / Packaging line-arts / Tech Packs / PLM.
- Liaise with the Product Developer with the fit and finish of prototype samples.
- Monitor sales information on a weekly basis.
- Continually assess market trends both internally (within JD Group) and externally (competition) including the JD international markets.
- Visit JD Stores on a regular basis.
- Research emerging fashion trends using platforms such as WGSN and internal insights.
- Engage in 3D/AI design and building technical 3D designs and graphical work.
- Support the team in creating seasonal trip and retail reports.
- Contribute to customer and brand profile research.
- Take part in retail and trend trips to build trend awareness and understanding.
- Attend fit meetings and take clear notes for the wider team.
- Learn and follow the Global Design process and ways of working.
- Support the team in developing knowledge of fabrics, technologies and garment construction.
- Build awareness of design legislation including child safety, sustainability and IP compliance requirements.
Skills/Experience/Knowledge
- Strong interest in fashion, design and emerging trends.
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Willingness to learn 3D design software. Knowledge of 3D/AI software is an advantage.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Mac literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to work to deadlines with attention to detail.
- Positive attitude, proactive and eager to develop new skills.
- Knowledge of PLM systems is an advantage.
- Graphical skills is an advantage.
- Degree level/equivalent qualification in Fashion Design or Graphical Design.
