Location: Kingsway DC & Bury Head Office.
Key Duties/Responsibilities
- Making sure our people, sites and assets remain secure and protected at all times.
- Managing all shift scheduling and resourcing to make sure the right people are in place and teams are running efficiently.
- Overseeing the security supervisors to ensure they understand ‘what good looks like’ when managing their teams, completing task rotations, return to work interviews and keeping on top of training.
- Driving Security Policies and Standard Operating Procedures to the highest of standards across the site and holding security supervisors accountable, as part of our safety and security culture framework.
- Monitor team and individual performance against agreed KPIs, maintaining accurate shift data, escalating issues where necessary, and supporting the Site Security Manager in identifying improvement areas.
- Act as a trusted escalation point, demonstrating professionalism while representing the Profit and Asset Protection function and the JD brand.
- Proactively identify risks relating to security and stock loss, implementing initiatives to mitigate and eliminate them.
- Review and investigate security incidents to identify trends and root causes.
- Conduct site audits and develop actionable plans, effectively managing stakeholder engagement.
- Ensure all security systems, including CCTV, are operated and maintained in line with current policies and procedures.
- Provide first-line support to supervisors, leading investigations into conduct, grievance, and security incidents, ensuring evidence is gathered and assessed objectively.
- Produce clear, structured investigation reports with well-defined findings and recommendations.
- Liaise with People Relations and the Site Security Manager on complex or sensitive cases, ensuring confidentiality and timely resolution.
- Support the Site Security Manager with ad-hoc responsibilities and provide cover in their absence.
Skills/Experience/Knowledge needed
Essential
- Demonstrable strength and experience in people management, motivating, developing and holding teams to account.
- Excellent scheduling and resource management skills.
- Available to attend multiple sites when needed.
- Strong investigative skills with experience conducting workplace or security investigations, with an ability to remain objective, gather evidence and produce clear findings.
- Confident communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills along with ability to use Microsoft packages proficiently.
- Technical confidence with managing security equipment.
Desirable
- Experience in a distribution, logistics or corporate environment is advantageous.
