Established in 1981 with a single store in the Northwest of England, the JD Group is a leading omni-channel retailer of Sports Fashion, Outdoors and Gyms. JD Sports Fashion Plc was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1996 and has been a FTSE100 publicly quoted company since 2019. We want to be the leading global omnichannel retailer in the sports and outdoor industry.

To be a part of this successful company and help us to achieve this you will have the desire to ingrain our strategic goals of being a people-led, innovative and customer-focused organisation which provides operational excellence whilst identifying new areas of growth as part of our day to day objectives.

About JD Sports Fashion: JD is a FTSE100 global omni-channel retailer operating across Sports Fashion, Outdoors and Gyms. As we continue to expand internationally, we are investing in a modern digital ecosystem to power the next generation of customer and operational platforms. Our Group Transformation function is driving this change, improving how technology and digital products are delivered across the business.

The Opportunity: We’re looking for a pragmatic, delivery-focused Scrum Master to support product teams building and evolving JD’s digital platforms, including key e-commerce capabilities. You will work within a delivery landscape of 11 product teams and a community of 4 Scrum Masters, helping teams collaborate effectively, navigate complexity and deliver value consistently. This role is ideal for someone who understands Agile is not just about process — it’s about enabling teams to deliver meaningful outcomes.

What You’ll Do: You will work closely with product, engineering and business stakeholders to enable effective Agile delivery across one or more product teams. Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating Scrum ceremonies that drive clarity, alignment and continuous improvement
  • Coaching teams in Agile principles to encourage ownership, accountability and self-organisation
  • Partnering with Product Managers to align delivery with business priorities and product roadmaps
  • Identifying and removing blockers impacting team delivery
  • Managing dependencies and risks across teams to maintain delivery momentum
  • Using delivery metrics to improve predictability and performance
  • Communicating progress, risks and outcomes clearly to stakeholders
  • Contributing to the Scrum Master community, sharing practices and improving ways of working

The Environment: JD is in the middle of a major digital transformation. Agile maturity varies across teams, meaning Scrum Masters play a key role in helping teams evolve how they work while maintaining delivery momentum. You’ll have the autonomy to coach, challenge and improve delivery practices, while working within a shared transformation framework. This is a fast-paced retail environment, so we’re looking for someone comfortable navigating change and working closely with stakeholders.

What Success Looks Like in Your First 90 Days:

  • Build strong relationships with your product team and stakeholders
  • Bring clarity to delivery progress, risks and dependencies
  • Identify opportunities to improve team flow and collaboration
  • Help teams focus on delivering measurable outcomes, not just completing sprints
  • Contribute to the Scrum Master community and share improvements

What We’re Looking For:

  • 2–5+ years working in Agile environments, including at least 2 years as a Scrum Master
  • Experience supporting cross-functional product or engineering teams
  • Strong facilitation, coaching and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and navigating delivery challenges
  • A data-driven mindset using metrics to improve team performance
  • A pragmatic approach to Agile focused on delivery outcomes rather than process
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Miro or similar Agile platforms is expected
  • Certifications such as CSM, PSM or PAL are beneficial but not essential

We know our colleagues work tirelessly to make JD Sports the success it is today and in turn, we offer them some amazing benefits including staff Discount On JD Group and other brands within the organisation and personal development opportunities to learn and develop at work.
