The purpose of the role is to oversee the day-to-day running of the Returns & Stock Control Department and the Stock Removals process, ensuring that daily targets are achieved, maintaining accuracy, and delivering a high standard of customer service.
Key Duties / Responsibilities
- Distribute work fairly across the team to ensure targets and objectives are achieved while maintaining high accuracy standards.
- Support the identification and resolution of departmental operational issues.
- Oversee all aspects of Returns & Stock Control, including retail returns, pricing of clearance stocks, stock removals, audits, eBay, and reporting potential quality or product issues to relevant departments.
- Monitor adjustments within the DC and analyze information to identify and report findings.
- Monitor the audit trail of cartons dispatched from the DC.
- Investigate discrepancies reported by stores.
- Audit stocks destined for and passed over to jobbers and supervise the removal of ‘End of Line’ stocks to jobbers.
- Ensure all returns are regularly collected and carry out spot checks, monitoring and overseeing stocks slated for disposal, including lost property.
- Assist with ongoing development of all department members.
- Deputize for the Returns and Stock Control Supervisor in their absence.
- Complete any reasonable ‘adhoc’ tasks in line with business needs and your current responsibility level.
- Develop and document new processes within the department.
- Ensure department KPIs are met through operative training and development.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Previous first-line management experience essential.
- Previous Returns or Stock Control experience preferred but not essential.
- Problem-solving ability.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- High levels of literacy and numeracy for documentation and accurate record keeping.
- Ability to prioritize work.
- Self-motivated, working independently on initiative.
- A team player capable of communicating and working with staff at all levels.
- Confidence in decision making.
- Professionalism and leadership skills essential.
